The Mad Science Young Wizards Party!
An excited Princess at her Mad Science Party! When it comes to planning the party programmes, we have three criteria: they must be educational, fun and engaging. Ever since Dana started attending the weekly Science enrichment in her kindy, she's take a great liking to Science. She devours the Young Scientist Magazines avidly and dabbles in the occasional home experiments as 'Scientist Dana and Singlet Daddy'. When Mad Science Singapore wanted to sponsor Dana with a Mad Science programme, we knew … [Read more...]
Dana’s Disney Frozen Party – The Dessert Table
We threw a 'Frozen' theme birthday celebration for Dana, a one last big bash for her before she enters Primary One in 2015. I started planning for it rather late but managed to design the invite on my own and put together a decent programme. This year for a change, Dana was tasked to draft her own guest list. Not surprisingly, she invited her classmates and a few close friends. Her birthday wish to be dressed as Princess Elsa (in 'Frozen') was granted when our dear neighbour turned BFF, Meredith … [Read more...]
Giving kids a sense of the Resurrection…
Easter falls on 20th April this year. Unlike Christmas, where the world celebrates Jesus' birth lavishly - decking our homes and malls with Christmas trees and tinsels, playing Christmas music for a month, feasting on log cakes and giving outlandish gifts to everyone. But Easter? Easter has always been a nebulous festival associated with Easter bunnies, Easter egg hunts and Easter Egg crafts. We may find a handful of books in the bookstores and a few songs … [Read more...]
Motivational Mondays: Have a Reunion Everyday!
Food reunites people. In Singapore, where everyone proclaims to be a foodie, it's not uncommon to hear people use food as a conversation starter to break the ice. In this part of the world, we ask "Have you eaten?" instead of 'How's the weather today?". In Asia, food often carry special significances and it's almost unthinkable if a happy occasion is found lacking of food. For example, we distribute red eggs to loved ones after a child's birth to celebrate the couple's fertility; we eat … [Read more...]

Glimpses of CNY 2014
I posted on Facebook that I'm a 'old-body' at heart. Of all the festivals, I look forward to Chinese New Year the most. The significance of spring cleaning, away with the old and welcoming of the new; the acts of giving home a new coat of paint, new light bulbs, new curtains, bedsheets and for family members, new sets of towels, clothes and shoes. These kept me busy in anticipation for weeks. But nothing rejuvenates me more than the coming together of loved ones - aunties, uncles, cousins, … [Read more...]

Dana’s 1st Music Recital
Friday the 13th, 2013 will go down in history with a special significance for my family. It was Dana's 1st music recital after taking piano lessons for a year. She was invited to play at the Christmas Concert at The Arts House. Daddy couldn't be more pleased as he believes that music is to be performed and enjoyed by an audience. We thank God that Dana was given such an exposure and it was made more memorable that Daddy accompanied Dana on two duets! A befitting venue for a … [Read more...]
