How do you teach and nurture loyalty? Like all values, they're caught and not taught. Every year, we make it a family affair to catch the National Day Fireworks...hoping the little one will 'catch' the patriotism of being a Singaporean...Most years, it involves 'camping' outdoors at good vantage points hours before the actual fireworks display; once we splurged on a National Day stay-cation (at Ritz Carlton no less!) to soak in the atmosphere with the extended family. As you can see, National … [Read more...]

Happy Mothers’ Day!
Being a Mom is the highest and most privileged calling, a dream come true. Some people call it a thankless task, the world's most underpaid yet most demanding job...I don't refute that. But as I count my blessing and look forward to the celebration of Mothers' Day (and my Birthday), my heart is filled to the brim with gratitude. I'll like to use this familiar bible verse inspired by God and written by the Apostle Paul to offer encouragement to all Moms around the world. In it, He gave us … [Read more...]

Photo *Heart* Fridays – Thank God for BFFs!
Dana and Victoria both take swimming lessons under the same coach. The girls, one year apart, bonded really well with each other this school holidays. We brought Vic with us to the Disney on Ice show and Vic's Mommy ferried Dana to and fro for the Apple Pie Mandarin Drama Camp this week. We thank God for sending Dana BFFs!“We'll be … [Read more...]
Valentine’s Day: Simple ‘I Love You’ Garland
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I decided to rope in the Princess to make a simple V-Day craft for Daddy. I explained to her that she would first have to think of 10 reasons why she loves Daddy...then we will use these reasons to make the perfect Valentine’s Day surprise for him. What I like about this project? It’s simple and easy enough for craft-nerds like me! Little hands can do this on their own or with minimal scissor help from Mommy. All you will need is some red paper, … [Read more...]

Gems for our Gem – A Rite of Passage…
Saturday morning, we brought the Princess to have her ears pierced. She had requested for it since last year but we procrastinated for few reasons, chief of it was the fear of infection if we did not administer the proper after-care and also, we wanted to search for a place whose staff are trained to work specifically with young children and whose equipment are properly sanitized. With the advice of some Mommy friends who have daughters, I booked an appointment with a lady paediatrician who … [Read more...]
My first Ezy-link Card!
Kids are fascinated with all manner of public transport: buses, trains and MRT. Ever since the Princess has outgrown the height limit of 90cm, she can no longer qualify for free travel on public transport. Today, I finally had the time to bring her to apply for her very own Child Concession Ezy-link Card. She was extremely delighted to have a card to call her own (a big step towards being a big girl now!), but for Mommy & Daddy, we secretly wish she will remain a baby forever...The card … [Read more...]
20 Realistic Resolutions for 2013!
One reason I sometimes dread the start of a New Year is the nagging feeling that I've yet to set my New Year Resolutions. Inevitably, top of many people's list include ambitious goals to lose weight, save more money, exercise more, eat healthy and and look good. Don't get me wrong. I like goals. I like resolutions. I like the idea of starting with a clean slate — I certainly hope the New Year will be better than the last. For the past week since we're returned from our vacation, I been … [Read more...]
