TORUK – The First Flight by Cirque Du Soleil Singapore
Welcome to Pandora! Having enjoyed the many Cirque productions that were performed on Singapore’s shores, I admit, I was slightly disappointed to hear that this latest installation will not be performed under Cirque’s iconic Grand Chapiteau. But shortly after clearing the airport-style security, my disappointment quickly dissipated – there in front of me, inside Singapore’s Indoor Stadium was Pandora – the planet home to the Na’vi people based on James Cameron’s award-winning movie, … [Read more...]

Julius Caesar by Singapore Repertory Theatre
Murder Most Foul. Quite honestly, I wasn’t familiar with the story of Julius Caesar but that didn’t made any difference. This is coming from someone whose knowledge of the play, was about the famous Roman ruler who died in the hands of his infamous friend, and yes, that final phrase ‘Et tu Brute’. In fact my 10 year old daughter’s knowledge of the plot far eclipses mine. Despite that, I enjoyed Shakespeare in the Park: Julius Caesar thoroughly! Here are 5 reasons we think … [Read more...]
Evita In Singapore 2018: A Review
‘Evita? In Singapore?’ I raised my eyebrows when I first caught sight of the advert last year. ‘This would truly be a first’ I thought, and in many ways it is. After all, this is not your typical Andrew Lloyd Webber musical that would usually land on Singapore shores. There’s no dramatic love story with a sweeping score (Phantom of the Opera), no colorful dances and jig-worthy tunes (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) nor are there any make-believe animals (CATS) or one with … [Read more...]

Written by Olivier Award-winning playwright, Mike Kenny and directed by Kate Golledge (of Chicken Little, Treasure Island, Red Riding Hood), The … [Read more...]

The Sound of Music: Singapore Tour 2017
Let me begin first, by saying this is not the 1st time I am watching The Sound of Music Musical LIVE but I’ve never remembered it being so spectacular. There were so many aspects of the show which moved me – the cast, the singing, the LIVE orchestra and my 9 year old daughter singing along to the memorable tunes of Sound of Music which we are all so familiar with. The leads, Carmen Pretorius (Maria) and Nicholas Maude (Captain von Trapp) performed their iconic roles with palpable onstage … [Read more...]
Chicken Little – Small Bird, Big Lesson
More than just Nostalgia My family and I are loyal supporters of SRT’s The Little Company's children productions. They are highly creative, engaging, superb productions. Merely few minutes into watching their latest production - Chicken Little, I knew I had to write this review. Because the story of this little bird and his friends struck such a special chord with me – I had read this story as a child and have never revisited this fable again…until now, with my wife and children in … [Read more...]
