“Should we self-drive in Iceland? Or should we just follow a tour?” “How is the drive like? Is it dangerous?” “What car should I drive?” "Was it easy to self-drive in Iceland?" "Which car rental company did you rent from?" We've been receiving these queries (both on FB as well as through IG) from our readers since we shared our Iceland itinerary so I reckon it warrants a post. Brief Background: I’m a driver with a good safety record. I’ve been driving for almost 30 years … [Read more...]
Legoland Malaysia Halloween Brick-or-Treat 2017
The annual Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat returns from now till 29 October 2017 . Here’s what we think of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcZvtQa6sNM A unique ‘not-so-scary’ Legoland Halloween: As a family, we do not celebrate Halloween so we tend not to get involved in anything Halloween-related so as not to instil unnecessary fear or phobia in our kids. But at Legoland Malaysia - a name that is synonymous with kids’ creativity, fun and family moments, their … [Read more...]
DIY Iceland – How to plan a self-drive Iceland holiday with kids
Summer 2017 We started dreaming of an Iceland vacation in June 2016 after we returned from our Scandinavia holiday with the kids. That trip, we travelled across Norway, Denmark and Sweden but couldn't continue on to Iceland due to work commitments. It was the only nordic country we had to miss. We promised ourselves we must return...but never did we envision it to materialise one Summer later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG9rg9Z9Nh0 Iceland…Unexpectedly: Most people associate … [Read more...]

WhereTo Eat in Niseko, Hokkaido
In 2016 December (yes Winter), we did our very first free and easy, self-drive trip to Hokkaido with 2 young kids (age 8.5 and 2.5 years old)). As it’s a DIY trip, knowing where to get food is important. Moreover as it’s Winter, where to get WARM cooked food is even more critical. Unlike Singapore, eateries in Niseko are not located near each other and one has to sometimes brave sub-zero temperatures to drive/catch a shuttle bus/walk there. Some eateries require reservations while others … [Read more...]
Hokkaido: The Complete DIY Itinerary
Creating Unique Core Memories: We believe in travelling together as a family because of the global exposure it provides for ourselves and the kids. Despite the hassle and costs involved in travelling with children, many of these can be mitigated through early, careful holiday planning. We’ve travelled the world with our daughter since she was 7 months old and she's since gained a travel buddy in her brother three years ago. We’ve heard so much about the powdery snow in Hokkaido; … [Read more...]
Changi Recommends WIFI Router – Stay Connected while Disconnecting
When we go on holidays, we want to be intentionally disconnected, particularly from the stressful demands and deadlines of work and to spend precious time with those closest and dearest. However, there are times where WIFI connectivity during the holidays is important to ensure your holidays go as planned. As a family who travels with our young kids at least twice a year, we do plan quite thoroughly before our trips. Anything from attraction sites, directions and other essentials are usually … [Read more...]
Hokkaido: Asahiyama Zoo
“This had better be good…” I quipped while standing outside the entrance of Asahiyama Zoo 旭山動物園, waiting for it to open, in the cold of winter with rain pelting down. On all accounts, it was a dreary, overcast Winter's day. After a short walk to the Sapporo train station from Keio Plaza Sapporo Hotel, we took a 1.5 hour train ride to Asahikawa Station. From the Asahikawa Station, we had to catch a public bus to the zoo. The entire journey took 2 hours+ on public transport complete with 2 … [Read more...]
Review of Keio Plaza, Sapporo Hotel
Big on Space: We've all heard how space is a premium especially in Japan (hence the invention of capsules hotels). But the first thing you’ll notice when you step into Keio Plaza Sapporo is that it is spacious. Large, busy but well-organised…everything you can expect in a major Japanese hotel in a large Japanese city. But beyond offering travelers space, there are more pleasant surprises in store. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsVi--B8ChU&feature=youtu.be Big on Service: Even … [Read more...]
Club Med Bintan: Possibly the best family resort
Angie and I are busy working parents with 2 young kids. Holidays are especially precious to us because our time together is limited. With kids growing up so fast and we growing old even faster (!!), family holidays are moments that we truly look forward and treasure. Yet when we go on a vacations, we occasionally face the the dilemma of balancing couple time versus time with kids and time as a family.
