Celebrating the launch of Ben & Jerry's CORES! In our home, we love desserts more than mains. An ice-cream treat at the end of a long stressful week or upon reaching a new milestone has become the de-facto family tradition. But many times, I always can't decide which flavor of ice cream to buy, so end up buying two (or more) pints and eating way too much. Not too good for the waistline eh? Now, hard-CORE ice-cream fans rejoice! Ben and Jerry has put us out of that 'misery' … [Read more...]
Brunch at W.39 Bistro & Bakery
I grew up in this neighborhood - attended primary school here and used to attend Youth For Christ (YFC) fellowships during my teens at an apartment right above where this cafe now stands. This row of shop house used to be a home to a mishmash of hardware and paint shop and car mechanic repair shops. Early this year, when we heard that there's a new kid on the block - W39 Bistro & Bakery, I was thrilled. A revival of this sleepy estate is long overdue. We finally paid homage to … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: Phantastic Pho!
Simply Phantastic Pho! Our family are big noodle fans and we used to travel to the seedier part of Joo Chiat for our Beef Pho fix. Not anymore. Since Mrs Pho opened its doors at Beach Road last month, we have visited twice on our own and even threw a birthday celebration in Vietnam. That speaks volume of how much we love this little Vietnamese joint, does it?The Ambience and DecorModelled after the Vietnamese back street alleys, Mrs Pho has recreated the side streets of Hanoi with stenciled … [Read more...]
Sunday Lunch, the way it was meant to be…
Idyllic setting by the waterfrontLike most salaried folks, we slog through work commitments, errands and chores during the weekdays, leaving precious weekends to spend meaningful quality time with our family. Like most, these meaningful times would often revolve around a good meal. Sadly, while buffets are not lacking in Singapore, we sometimes let form, or should I say ‘food’ overrule the substance - the actual purpose behind the meal itself. While the adults may be busy tucking into their … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: Mothers’ Day Meal in the Park…
Hello May, you crept upon us serendipitously...I have barely recovered from the hectic April (the month of the Princess's Birthday celebration) and now you're here. There is a major deadline due at work next week and many blog commitments to fulfill but we decided just for today, we would take it easy and enjoy a simple meal to celebrate your arrival, just us 3.Daddy and Dana wanted to head out for a trial run to practise for the upcoming Cold Storage Kids' Run and I was craving for the … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: Fish&Co Mothers’ Day Platter!
Fish&Co is no stranger to Singapore's F&B scene and their iconic glass house branch at Park Mall is almost an institution in itself. We remembered Fish&Co is one of our favourite dining places with friends during our tertiary and courtship days. All of us can testify to its generous and succulent portions of seafood served in a pan.Cosy Interiors at The Glass House flagship outletWe all know Moms around the world will only serve the best on the table to the family. PappaRich – Rich in Traditions, Values and Flavours
We live in a cosmopolitan, digital age where traditions are eroding at an alarming pace. Ask any youngster on the street for their fav staple food and they'll most likely say pizzas, pastas, fish & chips, burgers etc... In fact, most of us can whip up a pasta meal better than say, a 'Bak Chok Mee' or 'Bak Chang' (Rice Dumpling). What makes us truly Asians and how do these show from the food we eat? Asians are renowned for our work ethics - diligence, adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit. … [Read more...]
Miam Miam – the perfect match
The newly opened West Gate Shopping Mall in Jurong East has few gems which set my heart a flutter. Finally there is an Isetan for 'west-siders' like us; a one-of-a-kind 11,000 square-foot fantasy themed outdoor playground (named Westgate Wonderland) and an eclectic mix of Food & Beverage outlets to cater to all budgets and taste-buds. Welcome to Miam MiamLocated at ground level of Westgate is this charming French-Japanese fusion cafe 'Miam Miam' (The French equivalent to "yum," or … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: Spuds & Aprons@The Jewel Box
Foodies rejoice! A new family-friendly modern restaurant has opened atop Mt. Faber. Many used to associate Mt. Faber dining with parking woes and stiff, pricey F&B options. Not anymore! We were pleased that with the opening of Spuds & Aprons, there is now DAILY FREE VALET for all diners (with minimum S$30 spending) and the restaurant has been 're-invented' to offer "wickedly" good food in a cosy, relaxed, fun ambiance. The best thing about dining at Spuds & Aprons has got to be … [Read more...]
The 30 Minute Cookin Revolution
In a time-strapped, food-loving society like Singapore, we have a plethora of F&B establishments dotting every inch of our island. With so many options (and new ones sprouting like mushrooms daily), it's not uncommon to find families dining out, simply because whipping up a home cooked meal is too tedious and time-consuming, especially after a long working day. Nothing wrong with that, except that eating out often can be heavy on the pockets (with a simple meal easily setting … [Read more...]
