As I reflect on the past 25 years of marriage, my heart is filled with a myriad of emotions. It has been a journey marked by love, loss, and the unwavering grace of God.
Our story is not one of fairy tales and happily-ever-afters. It’s a story of resilience forged through the fires of adversity. We’ve faced challenges that tested the very core of our being, and yet, here we are, standing stronger together than when we first fell in love.
Infertility was the first hurdle we encountered on our long journey to parenthood. The heartache of longing for a child weighed heavy on our souls, but we clung to each other, finding solace in our love and faith in God’s plan.
We endured the devastating loss of not one, but three precious babies. Nathaniel and Joash, our stillborn angels who never took their first breaths. Our sweet Baby Ashley, who graced this world too briefly for 36 hours before being called back into the arms of God.
How did we survive such unimaginable loss? It was only by the mercies and grace of God. In the depths of our grief, we found comfort in our faith, knowing that our babies were safe in His loving embrace. And in each other, we found strength to carry on, holding onto hope even in the darkest of days.
Just when we thought we couldn’t bear another trial, we were dealt yet another blow – the news of my endometrial cancer. There were moments when it felt like all hope was lost, and we were on the brink of losing each other. But even in the depths of despair, God’s mercy shone through. After five years of uncertainty and fear, He granted me remission, a miraculous blessing that we will forever be grateful for.
Our journey has been marked by tears and heartache, but it has also been filled with moments of profound love and joy. We’ve celebrated milestones together, cherished precious memories, and built a bond that is unbreakable.
Through it all, we’ve learned that love is not just about the good times, but about standing by each other’s side through the storms. It’s about holding onto hope when all seems lost and finding light in the darkest of places. Our faith in God guided us through the darkest nights, carried us through the fiercest storms, and blessed us with miracles in the form of 2 beautiful living children, Dana and Buddy.
As we celebrate 25 years of marriage, I am grateful for every moment we’ve shared, every tear we’ve shed, and every hurdle we’ve overcome. Our love story may not be perfect, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
Here’s to us, and to the countless blessings that await us in the years to come. May we continue to walk hand in hand, guided by faith, and surrounded by love. Blessed 25th Wedding Anniversary!
