The annual Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat returns from now till 29 October 2017 . Here’s what we think of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcZvtQa6sNM A unique ‘not-so-scary’ Legoland Halloween: As a family, we do not celebrate Halloween so we tend not to get involved in anything Halloween-related so as not to instil unnecessary fear or phobia in our kids. But at Legoland Malaysia - a name that is synonymous with kids’ creativity, fun and family moments, their … [Read more...]

DIY Iceland – How to plan a self-drive Iceland holiday with kids
Summer 2017 We started dreaming of an Iceland vacation in June 2016 after we returned from our Scandinavia holiday with the kids. That trip, we travelled across Norway, Denmark and Sweden but couldn't continue on to Iceland due to work commitments. It was the only nordic country we had to miss. We promised ourselves we must return...but never did we envision it to materialise one Summer later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG9rg9Z9Nh0 Iceland…Unexpectedly: Most people associate … [Read more...]
The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites
This left such an indelible impression on me as a parent that I really had to pen my thoughts on it and share it. What is it? This is a live performance of 3 of award-winning children’s book illustrator and author, are retold on stage by Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia through the magic of black light and fanciful puppets. Adapted, designed and directed by Jim Morrow, with music by Steven Naylor and narration by Gordon Pinsent, the hour-long production features the imaginative … [Read more...]
Jamie’s Italian – Kids Menu 2017
Finding a good restaurant where the entire family can eat healthily can be quite a challenge. Firstly, it seemed most dining establishments coughed out a kids menus as an after-thought. Most kids menu items, if any, are predictable and horribly lacking in nutrition: think frozen pizzas, tasteless chicken nuggets, spaghetti drowned in tomato sauce with nary any fresh ingredients. Sometimes, having the kids consume the adult's portion may not be ideal as the amount of salt, seasoning, spices, … [Read more...]
Shopping for Kids’ Bunk Bed at Star Living
For most Singaporeans, we live in apartments where space is a premium. During our recent move, we decided to get the kids a bunk bed to save space. Yes, although the new home is slightly bigger, the kids are also growing bigger and all needed more living space. Our 9 year-old needs more space for her books, her study desk and even a place for her to read and wind down, while our 3 year-old has taken a strong liking to vehicular toys (read big chunky toys) as well as irregular shaped board books. … [Read more...]
Sesame Street ‘Trick or Treat’ Show at Universal Studios Singapore!
Gosh! Is that really Elmo? Oh yes, it is! The furry red little Elmo from Sesame Street is in Singapore! Not just the mascot but the original ELMO all the way from America! Can you believe it? The Elmo we watch on TV and YouTube is visiting Singapore for the first time. I can recognise Elmo from his famous chuckle. My little brother was so stunned to see ELMO that he didn't know how to react. But for me and the rest of the children at the Meet & Greet Elmo session at Universal Studios … [Read more...]
Buddy’s Elmo Party
Even though the party was long over (last year), I still owe it to myself and the birthday boy to document it on the blog. Buddy turned 2 on 23 June 2016. We had just returned from our Scandinavia Summer holiday then. With barely 1 week to go, we put together a small celebration involving our extended family members and a childhood friend in our estate's function room. We chose an Elmo-themed party as Buddy loves to read Elmo books. Those who know me know that I am good at outsourcing my … [Read more...]
{Giveaway} Act 3 International Presents: The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Other Eric Carle Favourites
In our home, Eric Carle is THE most requested author for bedtime real-alouds. Even our 3 year old Buddy would randomly pick up Eric Carle's books in his free time and mimic reading, much to our amusement. He also could remember the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by heart. So it is with great anticipation and excitement when we knew that ACT 3 International is bringing the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada to Singapore again to present 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle … [Read more...]
PayPal Kids in Tech Code Camp – The Experience
Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire” - William Butler Yeats. Fire! This was the Willam Yeats quote that came to my mind when I entered the room at PayPal office, the venue of the Kids in Tech 2017 Code Camp. You could literally see the sparkle in each of the children's eyes as they communicated with each other, putting in the finishing touches to their projects, with some nudging their parents eagerly to come forward and take a peep at their … [Read more...]
