Mention Tutuk, Tom Yum Goong, Pole Dancing Pornsak (from The Noose) and Bangkok instantly springs to mind. Each year, 500,000 Singaporeans visit Bangkok. With cheap eats, affordable massages, plethora of bargain shopping, and promises of warm hospitality, it's no wonder Bangkok is a top favourite travel destination. We last visited Bangkok 12 years ago as a newly married couple. This time, armed with tips on the 'Must-Dos' and 'Must-Eats' from friends, we rediscovered Bangkok with Dana in tow to … [Read more...]

Weekend Wanderings: Kids can Bowl!
We spent a fun-filled and memorable Sunday celebrating cousin Hayley's 7th Birthday, engaged in a fun sport - Bowling! It was Dana's very 1st time at the bowling alley and she was highly thrilled! Daddy and Mommy had this assumptions that bowling is suitable for older kids (i.e. teenagers) and adults but judging by the laughter and enthusiasm we witnessed today, we couldn't be more wrong - kids find the game irresistible.Brightly furbished Lobby...We were very pleasantly surprised to … [Read more...]
A Tale of how we overcame Kawasaki
Susan of A Juggling Mom was appealing for stories of children who have overcome adversities in her linky to commemorate Children's Day in the month of October. I promised to recount our experience of how Dana won the fight against Kawasaki Disease so that other families can be informed about this rare auto-immune disorder. Our Birthday Girl with a bandaged arm, cracked cherry lips and a Rudolph nose... What is Kawasaki? Kawasaki disease is a potentially fatal … [Read more...]
October Playbook: My Little Plants…
Day #11 of October Playbook states: Collect 5 types of Leaves and classify them. I remembered as a primary school kid, we were assigned these Young Scientist Cards with projects and activities which we have to complete to earn our young Botanist, young Zoologist and young Geologist certificates and badges. I enjoyed those tremendously and wish Dana would be as fascinated in the Natural world as I did.Does these bring back fond memories for you too?Today's challenge is exactly one which I … [Read more...]

October Playbook: Clouds Around the World!
Day #9 of the October Playbook Challenge encourages us to go Cloud Spotting - something I wish I had the time to do more often...A shot taken en-route to Melbourne, AustraliaI vaguely remembered studying names of clouds in Geography lessons and enjoyed it. Whenever I fly, I love peeping out of the plane windows to admire the clouds. My fav place for cloud watching has got to be in Australia (where the skies are perpetually in mesmerizing shades of blue). For today's challenge, I … [Read more...]
October Playbook: Did you see what I see?
We've entered week 2 of the October Playbook Challenge and this happens to be the week to G.O (Get Out!). Today, Day #8's challenge is to go on a Neighbourhood Insect Safari! Being a working day (and a Monday!), we could only attempt this activity in the evening. When Daddy turned up at the door at 7pm, I sent him and Dana off on the safari hunt. They had recently just carried out fumigation in the estate so the likelihood of locating insects is really slim but they were game enough to give … [Read more...]
Motivational Monday: Little Friends Save The Day!
We spent a busy but remarkable weekend...brought Dana for an afternoon show at DBS Arts Centre as her Children's Day treat; squeezed in some time for a swim and massage; attended UPicnic at the Barrage and ended it with a Family Movie Night right in the comfort of our own home. With pillows, bolsters and cups of warm beverages in hand (milk for Dana and camomile tea for me), Dana and I snuggled up to enjoy the timeless Disney's animation classic … [Read more...]
Weekend Wanderings: Food.Fun.Experience.
UFamily Picnic...Singaporeans: Work hard, Play hard. The Marina Barrage is one of our family's favourite outdoor 'playground' where Dana flew her first kite. It is also the place where we spent many carefree weekends. When we knew that that UPicnic will be held at the Barrage, we were promptly registered for it. The UPicnic is one of the many thoughtful initiatives by NTUC UFamily to encourage working families to spend quality time with their family members. This year, … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: All-Day Brunch@Oktober Munich
All day brunches are a dime a dozen all over Singapore but last Sunday, we've discovered a gem nestled in the quaint Dempsey enclave (near Huber's butchery). The name of the restaurant 'Oktober Munich Restaurant and Bar' sounds like a typical German beer place but we were pleasantly surprised that they serve up a mean brunch too! Apparantly, they started the Brunch Menu just barely 3 weeks ago. Daddy ordered the Oktober Breakfast $20 … [Read more...]
