“Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” ― Mitch Albom Birthday. Happy? Whenever Mothers’ Day draws near, it also signifies that my birthday is just round the corner. Yes, I was born on Mothers’ Day so I always tell my friends how ironic it is that my route to Motherhood took so many twists and turns. This year, as my birthday swings around again in May, I decided to sit the husband down to discuss some ‘important' plans. The fact that we are both not getting any younger … [Read more...]
A Terrific 8th Tag Team Party!
Before Dana's 8th Birthday drew near, we decided we would throw a unique party for her and her Primary 2 classmates before they part ways to different classes next year. On a daily basis, the girls have limited interactions which are centred around lessons, recess and after school CCAs. A laser tag party would allow the birthday girl and her friends to let their hair down (literally) and experience something special which they can talk about for many days after! We managed to keep it a … [Read more...]
Home for Christmas…with IKEA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj3r_SU4140 A short video of how we put together a Ikea Christmas party right at home! All parents can attest that parenting is not easy. For us, it’s a daily reality that greet us when we step home: strewn books and toys, unmatched PJs, tears and mucus on bibs, piles of un-ironed laundry beckoning us…Mess is a part of parenting, especially since our children are young and very lively. I wanted badly to host a small Christmas party to bring the extended … [Read more...]
What Christmas means to me…
What does Christmas mean to me? Actually the short answer to that is "Nothing”. Really. Nothing. The hyped-up commercialization of Christmas where everyone, from family members to colleagues, Christians or otherwise, exchange gifts while uttering ‘Merry Christmas’ has made this day where we commemorate the birth of Christ, into a feel-good merry-making event that has missed the mark by a far stretch. A quick visit to the Daiso store yesterday for some stationery, seeing the snaking queue … [Read more...]

On Our Top 10 Most Popular Singapore Blogs Award 2015 Win
By any account it was a long and lousy day. Due to some contingencies at work, the day had stretched into the evening and the evening into night. Plans to have dinner with Angie and attend the Singapore Blog Awards night together had to be shelved. By the time I reached home, the kids were fast asleep – kind of like the same way I left them when I left for work early in the morning at 6:30am. It is exactly this sort of day that inspired me to write – a day in the life of a working parent, … [Read more...]
National Day Parade (NDP) 2015 – Soaking in the Action at the Fringe
Here it is, finally! The event the whole country has been waiting for: The 2015 National Day Parade to commemorate Singapore’s SG50 Jubilee year. For us, we are continuing our family’s little ‘tradition’ to chase, or to catch the fireworks and the aerial displays. We were thrilled to know that although the celebration proceedings has moved to the Padang – site of the first National Day Parade, the fireworks and the position of the general aerial displays have not changed much. In fact, there … [Read more...]
He Chose Us…Celebrating Alexander’s 1st Birthday
A year ago today…this tiny little baby chose us. It happened within a day. A phone call, a trip to the hospital and then we began this journey, all over again… It was a regular day, both David and I were at work and the daughter had just returned home from kindergarten. I was in a long-drawn meeting when I received a missed call from an adoption agent whom I had contacted months back. We had prayed for an open door to adopt a sibling for Dana since 4 years ago but it somehow … [Read more...]

Abrakadoodle's art syllabus is customized to bite-size nuggets, easy for young kids to comprehend, apply and retain the knowledge. When Dana was a pre-schooler, we spent many fond Saturday mornings at Abrakadoodle's studio where she dabbled in kiddie art … [Read more...]
A Brand New Beginning
Eagle-eyed readers and friends have noticed that the usernames in our social media channels have been updated surreptitiously today. Our blog 'PrincessDanaDiaries' started as a personal online diary to document Dana's growth and share her photos with relatives living overseas. In it, I jotted down baby weaning recipes and her monthly milestones in the hope that it will become a treasury of beautiful memories for our daughter. Over time, the blog grew; we made friends, formed relationships with … [Read more...]
