Even though the party was long over (last year), I still owe it to myself and the birthday boy to document it on the blog. Buddy turned 2 on 23 June 2016. We had just returned from our Scandinavia Summer holiday then. With barely 1 week to go, we put together a small celebration involving our extended family members and a childhood friend in our estate's function room. We chose an Elmo-themed party as Buddy loves to read Elmo books. Those who know me know that I am good at outsourcing my … [Read more...]
A letter to our son as he turns 3!
For some reasons, the 3rd birthday is an important milestone in my books. Partly because I still have in my possession, a faded yellowish b/w photograph of a big, old-fashioned Number 3 butter-cream cake taken on my 3rd birthday at home. Our son Alexander (more affectionately known as 'Buddy' on our blog and social media accounts) turns 3 today. The Road Less Travelled – Adoption: where God seemed silent
(This is an article from a Christian’s perspective about how fellow Christians should support one another through the journey of adoption rather than condemning it as 'not of God'. I’m neither a Pastor nor a church worker but I don’t believe my Christian walk is any less than theirs. The Road Less Travelled – The Joys and Challenges of Child Adoption in Singapore
23rd June, 2014, the day which I left for work being a father of one and returned home a father of two. This was my standard reply whenever I was asked how it feels like to adopt a child. That was one year ago and three days ago, on June 23, Alexander turned 1. I’m proud and overjoyed to call him my son in every sense of the word. While his birthday, like any child’s, is a time to celebrate the joy of welcoming the newest member to the family and to acknowledge the blessings, love and … [Read more...]
He Chose Us…Celebrating Alexander’s 1st Birthday
A year ago today…this tiny little baby chose us. It happened within a day. A phone call, a trip to the hospital and then we began this journey, all over again… It was a regular day, both David and I were at work and the daughter had just returned home from kindergarten. I was in a long-drawn meeting when I received a missed call from an adoption agent whom I had contacted months back. We had prayed for an open door to adopt a sibling for Dana since 4 years ago but it somehow … [Read more...]
