We've entered week 2 of the October Playbook Challenge and this happens to be the week to G.O (Get Out!). Today, Day #8's challenge is to go on a Neighbourhood Insect Safari! Being a working day (and a Monday!), we could only attempt this activity in the evening. When Daddy turned up at the door at 7pm, I sent him and Dana off on the safari hunt. They had recently just carried out fumigation in the estate so the likelihood of locating insects is really slim but they were game enough to give … [Read more...]
October Playbook: Tear and Tell a Tale…
Day #4 of The October Playbook Challenge is to 'Tear and Tell a Tale'. Honestly, I'm not much a storyteller and was doubtful if I can pull this off but gosh, we had a fun giggly night! We started late at about 8pm, after dinner. I dug out the last few pieces of coloured origami paper from my stationery chest, laid them on the table and told Dana she's gonna be a storyteller tonight. The criteria was: she had to tell a story with paper shapes she tore. Having just attended her kindy's … [Read more...]

I'll fly around with my friends to eat leaves...Us: Dana, caterpillars eat leaves, butterflies don't... D: Ohh...then what do they eat for breakfast? Us: They drink nectar from flowers... D: Oh I know! If I were a … [Read more...]
October Playbook: Scat-Sing!
Day #2 of the October Playbook Challenge reads: Scat-Singing!WHAT IS SCAT? To put it simply, Scat is the improvised singing of nonsense syllables in jazz music, similar to an instrumental jazz solo. You use your voice to sing words that you invent. When I saw this challenge last night, I was stumped momentarily...Scat-singing is not something we do on a daily basis so some inspiration is needed...Daddy had introduced Jazz to Dana and she enjoyed it so I am keen to ride on this challenge to … [Read more...]

HeART Studio – Art from the Heart!
Most of us instinctively know that art is important for our children. According to educational psychologists, creating art expands a child's ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art help to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills such as fine motor skills, problem solving skills and communication skills that benefit a child's all round development. Daddy and I … [Read more...]

Allie Alligator, Bubba Bear and Catina Cat!
After hearing rave review from an ex-colleague about how her pre-schooler son benefitted from the programme, we enrolled Dana for Zoo-phonics lessons officially last month in March. Zoo-phonics is a whole brain approach developed to make children strong readers (and spellers) using “phono” (hearing), "oral” (speaking), “visual” (seeing), “kinesthetic” (moving), and tactile (touching) activities. What we like about Zoo-phonics Programme is that it capitalises on the … [Read more...]
1st Enrichment Class…
Our Princess' growing up so fast that she'll be turning 1 in less than a month's time. We observed that her psychomotor skills are quite advanced (result of her roaming around freely under close supervision at infantcare) and decided we should stimulate her in other ways. So we started sort of an 'enrichment class hunt for her. We brought her to several trials - Gymboree, Growing up Gifted and Little Neuro Tree before finally deciding on Kindermusik. We've always like Kindermusik's classes as … [Read more...]
