If you are a fan of coconut-based desserts like Chendol, Honeydew Sago, Red Rubies and Bu-bur Cha-cha, you are going to obsess over this. Source“Es Teler,” meaning “Drunk Ice,” is a Sweet Fruit Cocktail which apparantly is a popular road-side treat throughout Indonesia. Some websites even termed Es Teler as 'Indonesia's National Drink!' and to think that I only discovered and tasted this heavenly dessert for the 1st time at a company lunch yesterday! Es Teler usually comprised of … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: All-Day Brunch@Oktober Munich
All day brunches are a dime a dozen all over Singapore but last Sunday, we've discovered a gem nestled in the quaint Dempsey enclave (near Huber's butchery). The name of the restaurant 'Oktober Munich Restaurant and Bar' sounds like a typical German beer place but we were pleasantly surprised that they serve up a mean brunch too! Apparantly, they started the Brunch Menu just barely 3 weeks ago. Daddy ordered the Oktober Breakfast $20 … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: Supertree Dining@Casa Verde!
Dana was due for reviews with two specialists at the KK Women's & Children's Hospital - one for her busted chin and the other for her fractured toe. We were very relieved that the reviews were good and we decided to visit to Gardens By the Bay this evening. After touring the conservatories, we headed to Supertree Dining Grove for a quick dinner. There were five dining options but we chose Casa Verde (the same folks behind Pepperoni and Canelé Pâtisserie - The Les Amis Group) as we enjoyed the … [Read more...]
Foodie Friday: Fab Viet Food!
The hubs has been to Vietnam on business trips and absolutely full of praises for Vietnamese Cuisine. Back home, a mommy friend heard that we've been searching for decent Vietnamese Pho in Singapore and promptly recommended us to try this chic new restaurant in the heart of town.We headed to NUOC on a weekday lunch and were not disappointed. The restaurant was elegantly decked out in chinois Saigon style and the service was attentive but non-intrusive. The menu was extensive and offered … [Read more...]
Breakfast for Champs – Sweet & Savory Wraps!
In our household, breakfast is a very simple affair: On weekdays, it’ll be bread with jam with butter, Post cereals, muffins & cupcakes which I baked the night before or the occasional ham/egg/ tuna sandwich. On weekends, Daddy loves to bring us out for breakfast and we would indulge in local hawker fare such as Kaya Toast with Runny Egg (Slurps!), Indian Roti Prata or Teochew Fishball noodles. When I saw Adora of The Gingerbread Mum hosting this Breakfast for Champs series, I knew I … [Read more...]
Hatched, Rise & Dine!
We chanced upon this restaurant in 2010 when we were sourcing for a good casual party venue for Dana’s birthday. Opened in September 2009, Hatched at Evans Lodge is a restaurant that serves all day breakfast. As the name implies, the menu at Hatched carries all kinds of eggs - boiled, poached, baked, scrambled, fried, and omelette. Even though it isn’t our first meal at Hatched, there were so many different choices on the menu that it took us a while to decide what we want! We went … [Read more...]
Fun Friday Bake!
It has been a most hectic week with lots of deadlines at work and the arrival of a new domestic help. I came home physically drained but still wanted to devote some time to do something fun with the Princess. We didn't take long to decide on baking as I have a recipe which has been on my "to-do" list for a while. We measured the ingredients and laid out the baking tools. I enlisted the help of my capable little baking apprentice, Dana, to do most of the tasks as this recipe is rather … [Read more...]
A Good Meal Solution
Our maid has gone on 2 weeks' Hari Raya home leave. Living without a helper is actually manageable except for 1 major hurdle - settling Dana's dinner. With our hectic schedules as full time working parents, trying to find a good (i.e. healthy and nutritious) dinner for the Princess after work each evening is proving to be quite a challenge. Plagued by guilt, my mind drew a blank as a brand new week approaches. Surely we cannot feed our daughter the same … [Read more...]
Tasty Fish with Sweet Potato
Mealtime has become such a fun time with mummy eagerly experimenting new recipes to satisfy Dana's growing tastebuds! Today's new menu is taken from Annabel Karmel's website: http://www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes/babies-6-9-months/tasty-fish-sweet-potatoI've decided to throw my inhibitions out of the window in allowing our Princess to partially self-feed (and inevitably make a mess in the process). Reckon we should allow her to learn kinesthetically as well - to touch, smell, feel the food that … [Read more...]
